Northeast Ohio Auto Dealer News
This is the newsroom for the Northeast Ohio Automobile Dealers Association (NOADA) - the place to follow what’s actually happening in the local car business: how new-vehicle sales are trending across Summit County and the surrounding region, what’s changing at the Akron BMV, which state and federal rules are moving in Columbus and Washington, and how our member dealerships invest back into the community. We’ve represented franchised dealers across Northeast Ohio since 1927, and this page is how we share the local picture in plain language - for members, for the media, and for anyone buying or registering a vehicle here.
We don’t run a raw, every-press-release feed. Instead, our news is organized into a few clear topic clusters so you can go straight to what matters to you. Below you’ll find the latest from each, plus the recurring reports and resources that make this a page worth bookmarking.
How our newsroom is organized
Rather than one long scroll, NOADA news is grouped into five ongoing storylines. Each is a hub you can follow on its own.
Market & data: the AUTO KNOW report
Our flagship news asset is AUTO KNOW, NOADA’s market-information feature for the Northeast Ohio new-vehicle market. It follows brand and segment trends, used-car movement, pricing, and how the local market is shifting. If you’re a reporter, an analyst, or a dealer principal who wants to know where the local market is heading, start here. See the latest on the AUTO KNOW market report page.
Akron BMV service updates
As operator of the Akron BMV (Ohio Deputy Registrar Agency 7731), we post practical updates the driving public needs - REAL ID reminders, hours and holiday-closure notices, new specialty plates, fee changes, and tips that cut your wait. When Ohio changes a registration or license rule, we translate it into what you actually have to do. The full self-service hub lives at Akron BMV.
Advocacy & regulatory
Laws and regulations shape every dealership and every car buyer in Ohio. We summarize legislative sessions, BMV and FTC rule changes, and the issues NOADA is working in partnership with the Ohio Automobile Dealers Association (OADA) in Columbus and the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) in Washington. Policy coverage feeds into our Advocacy section.
Member & dealer news
New rooftops, ownership changes, dealership milestones, anniversaries, hires, and endorsed-partner announcements from across our membership. This is the “who’s who” of the Northeast Ohio dealer community - and a window into an industry that employs thousands of our neighbors. Learn who belongs and why on the Membership page.
Community & foundation
The car business gives back. This cluster covers scholarships, workforce and technician-pipeline programs, charity events, and the giving driven through the NOADA Foundation. It’s also where you’ll find recaps of our signature gatherings - the dealer event, auto show, and golf outing.
Why follow NOADA news
Most of what’s written about the car business is national. The price of a new truck in California or a policy fight in Washington matters, but it doesn’t tell a family in Akron what a vehicle actually costs here, or tell a dealer in Cuyahoga Falls how their store is performing against the rooftop down the road. NOADA news fills that local gap with three things the national coverage can’t:
- A local lens. Our AUTO KNOW feature focuses on the Northeast Ohio market, not national averages, so the picture reflects what’s actually happening here.
- The dual view. We sit on both sides of the counter - a member association and the Akron BMV serving the walk-in public. That gives our coverage a perspective no pure trade group has.
- A 1927 memory. Nearly a century of representing local dealers means we can put today’s headline in context. Sales swings, credit cycles, fuel-price shocks, and technology shifts - we’ve reported through all of them.
For journalists and researchers
NOADA is a primary source on the Northeast Ohio automotive economy, and we’re glad to help with stories. We can provide:
- A local read on new- and used-vehicle and brand/segment trends from the AUTO KNOW feature
- Context and comment on pricing, inventory, EV adoption, interest rates, and consumer-protection topics
- Perspective on the economic role of dealerships across the region - see Economic Impact
- Interviews with association leadership on policy and market conditions
Members of the media can reach the association at tim@neodealers.com or (330) 272-9011. High-resolution logos and an organizational fact sheet are available on request.
The stories we keep coming back to
Some themes run through NOADA news year after year because they shape the local market and the people in it:
- Affordability. New-vehicle prices have climbed steadily since 2020, reshaping what buyers can afford and how they finance. We track the numbers and what they mean for shoppers and dealers alike.
- The shift to online used retail. High-volume online used-car retailers have changed the competitive map for every franchised store - a recurring AUTO KNOW storyline.
- EV adoption, locally. National EV headlines don’t always match what’s happening on Northeast Ohio lots. We report the local powertrain mix as it actually moves.
- Rules and compliance. From REAL ID at the BMV counter to FTC and state advertising rules, regulatory change is constant - and we translate it into plain steps.
- Workforce. The technician and dealership talent pipeline is one of the industry’s biggest challenges, and a focus of the NOADA Foundation.
